REFLECTIONS

Well if you are reading this I hope you have read from the start. It has been a journey. It has changed us. I am not sure how just yet, but it has changed us. I am thankful for the messages and comments from people who have followed us. They are many more than just those that comment on the actual blog page (including an office in Canberra).

So now Amanda is busy setting up a web site for the home and continuing the good work she was doing there. I will soon be investigating how you set up a charity (any offers of help accepted). Amanda has also looked at a program in Nepal called Himalaya Children which looks at keeping orphans in family homes by providing money so they can be cared for. They have asked if she would like to do an internship.

People have contacted us offering money. We would like to ensure that the money goes to exactly what the person donating it wants it to go to. So we hope to make a list of projects and costs and people can donate to a specific item. We will make sure it gets to the right place.

The list is endless but so little money makes a difference.

And people say there are so many projects how can anything we do make a difference.

I am reminded of the story I often use about why I teach:

A famous American writer/philosopher was walking along a huge beach and there were millions of star fish washed up on the beach by a storm. As he walked along he saw a young man pick up a star fish and throw it back into the ocean. He watched for a while as the man picked up another and threw it into the ocean also. He walked up to the man and said "there are millions of them you can't make a difference". The young man paused, but then bent down, pick up another and walked to the water's edge and threw it into the ocean. He came back to the writer and said "it made a difference to that one".

Amanda also hopes to take a group back to Nepal sometime later this year to do some tourist activities and some volunteer work. Some people may be interested in this..
