THE MONASTERY in pictures

"My undies keep creeping up in these outfits"

A view of the monastery

One of the inner coutyards.

Amanda with the Upper Kindergarten class.....deciding whether she wants a career in teaching.

And of course the young monks paying attention to their lessons.

Two views of the prayer session held by the monks in the house. The large horns were very impressive to hear.

The younger monks in the TV room on a Sunday afternoon. Only allowed TV on Saturday and Sunday.

Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. If only you knew.

The view over the top of the new temple building.

Morning tea time....salted Tibetan tea or sweet and sugary Nepali tea.

The monks cleaning the butter candles. Each candle is cleaned out, then a new wick added then refilled. These candles are used for religious purposes.

Me trying to keep up with the monks dance steps...some of the younger one are helping.

Amanda with the boss: Lama Kunga.

Dinner time.

Me with some of the older monks. They have been there for at least ten years. A very nice group of fellows.

One of the classes we were teaching. They at least look like they are doing work at this time.

As long as they had coloured pencils they were happy to work. But they jealously guarded those pencils.

Two views of the kitchen below. One is of the cook making Tibetan tea, the other is a younger monk in front of the fires.
