CHICKEN COOP

So we delayed completing the coop as Chandra had to get some more wood to finish the floor in each hatch. I waited a day while he when to purchase wood at the markets. Its cheaper if a Nepali buys it by himself.... the price goes up if a Westerner is present. Then the next day I arrived at the home just after a load of wood arrived at bottom of the hill. It was a number of pallets and Chandra had just started to break them up for the wood. Steve, an Aussie was with me. We decided to carry them up the hill first, or at least to the top of the hill and then to break them up before carrying them up the stairs. It proved to be hot, heavy work. Then we pulled them apart. By this time sweat was pouring out of us. Then we cut the boards to size.....with a very, very blunt saw .......a Nepali saw....the hand grip was too small for our hand...but finally finished just on dark.

Today I went back to saw the ends off the boards with Chandra.....the ends of the flooring were sticking out the end.....but we didn't have time yesterday. Satisfying to be finished.

Well I thought so!!! Every day I go back Chandra is cutting small boards to cover small gap. These gaps were left so that a floor of bamboo poles could be slipped in to finish the job originally. Oh well it keeps him busy. For all intents and purposes it is finished. Maybe chickens next Sunday.....that's the day to buy chickens in Nepal apparently.
